Privacy Policy
The short version: Puzzly has no accounts, and your game progress stays on your phone. Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to join the leaderboard, which publishes only the nickname and avatar you pick plus your levels. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, and the optional “Remove ads” purchase is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store.
1. Information kept on your device
Your progress — levels, scores, times, achievements, streaks, settings, and the optional display name and avatar on your profile — is stored on your device. Unless you join the leaderboard (section 2), we never receive any of it. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
2. The leaderboard (optional)
Puzzly has leaderboards. They are off until you join. Nothing about you is sent anywhere unless you tap Join, and you can leave at any time. After your first win (and once more at level 10) the app offers to join, with a made-up nickname filled in that you can change; tapping Not now sends nothing.
If you join, your device is given a random identifier — not linked to your name, email, phone number or advertising ID — and sends, every few hours while you play:
- the display name and avatar you chose in the app (please don't use your real name if you'd rather not be identified — names are shown publicly);
- your overall level and XP, your daily streak, your crown count, and your level in each game;
- a two-letter country code, worked out from your IP address so boards can show a flag. We do not store your IP address. When you join, the same IP lookup fills in a state and city on your profile so you can see your city's board; you can change or clear it on your profile at any time;
- the state and city you choose on your profile, if you set them, so you can see leaderboards for your city and state. They are shown next to your name. Leave them unset and no local boards are shown.
This information is shown publicly on the leaderboard inside the app and on our website. It is stored on Cloudflare Workers and D1, which host the service on our behalf; it is not sold, and it is not shared with anyone else.
Leaving. Settings → Leaderboard → Leave deletes your record — your profile row and every score — from our server, and removes the identifier from your device. You can also email us and we'll delete it for you.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Puzzly is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or Apple IDFA where you allow it);
- IP address and the approximate location derived from it, plus device and app information;
- how you interact with ads.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for consent before personalised ads, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. On iPhone the app asks permission before any tracking; if you decline you still see ads, just not personalised ones. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. Buying “Remove ads” turns all ads off.
Google's use of this information is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
4. Purchases
The optional “Remove ads” purchase is processed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details — the store only tells the app whether you own the purchase, so ads can be turned off and restored on a new device.
5. What we don't do
- We don't create accounts or ask for your email, phone number or contacts.
- We don't link the leaderboard identifier to your advertising ID or to anything Google collects for ads.
- We don't use your camera, microphone, photos or precise location.
- We don't sell your personal information.
6. Children
Puzzly is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and ads in the app are limited to content suitable for general audiences.
7. Keeping and deleting data
Progress stays on your device until you uninstall the app. If you joined the leaderboard, your record is kept until you leave — Settings → Leaderboard → Leave deletes it from our server straight away — or until you ask us to delete it. For information Google collects for advertising, use the controls in section 3 or contact Google. For anything else, email us and we'll help.
8. Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
